The tiny Common Blue is the most widespread of the UK’s blue butterflies, although like most species it’s not exactly ‘common’ these days. They like to roost high up on grass stalks and the very bright blue males can often be seen defending their small territories, flying out to repel intruders and often returning to the same perch.
This image has a lovely soft, dreamy feel to it, and shows a Common Blue in a typical roosting spot, high up amongst taller grasses.
